This is a much quoted article even though many do not include the
source.
Six Sigma deployments save an
average 2 percent of total revenue per year
53 percent of Fortune 500 companies
are currently using Six Sigma
82 percent of Fortune
100 companies are currently using Six Sigma
For years, people have been
calling Six Sigma a fad, but that label doesn't seem to fit
something that has a 20-year track record of impressive results and
is still expanding.
BOPI Comment: It is important to understand the
history of Six Sigma as it has evolved through three generations
(Quality Improvement; Cost Reduction, Value, and Personal Achievement
(The Great Discovery). Many companies use there own names for Six Sigma,
but the rudiments of their process are based upon the Six Sigma
methodology. The real power of Six Sigma is that it is an improvement
system that has been able to evolve and whether it lasts another 20
years by name, the underlying concepts are sure to remain.
In what will certainly be another game-changing
contribution, his restless mind has embarked on the quest to
understand and characterize the underlying cognitive and behavioral
foundations of the Six Sigma methodology. The scope of this
enterprise is grand, and the target audience is broad. Mike's
passion is ultimately to offer this knowledge to society in general,
empowering individuals, families, and organizations to move
confidently to the next level. Mike calls this “The Great Discovery”
and it's worth checking out, (http://www.facebook.com/Alan.Leduc.Great.Discovery.Affiliate)
A heavy hitter has stepped back into the batters box -- I'm looking
for another home run.

Former Vice President, Research in Motion (Blackberry)
Six Sigma is the most important initiative GE has
ever undertaken…it is part of the genetic code of our future
leadership. Harry’s presentation succeeded in capturing our
imagination. I sensed [Six Sigma] was a lot more than statistics
for engineers … At Six Sigma’s core is an idea that can turn a
company inside out, focusing the organization outward on the
customer.
Jack Welch
BOPI Comment: There are many Six Sigma Black Belts
that don't even know the name of Mikel Harry. Many books on Six Sigma
provide ambiguous history's of the development of Six Sigma leaving out
any reference to Mikel Harry (maybe this is because they were competing
with Mikel as a consultant or maybe they just didn't do their research.)
Most of those not acknowledging Mikel's role as the co-creator of Six
Sigma with his colleague Bill Smith give credit to Bob Galvin, CEO of
Motorola at the time. Interesting when Mikel won the Engineering
Excellence Award at Arizona State University, Bob Galvin introduced him.
Does it make sense that Bob would do this if Mikel was exaggerating his
role?

Determining your core values will provide you leverage and motivation to
achievement of your goals. It is my feeling that all successful people
do this better than the ordinary person, whether they realize it or not.
